War Service
Roy enlisted in the CMF (part time) on 6 Mar 1941, and on 14 Jul 1941 he was called up for full time service. On 29 Oct 1941 he was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital with Coryza, remaining withthem until 2 Feb 1942 when he was shifted to what was a convalescent home at 'Keanes Point'. On 5 Feb 1942 he returned to his unit the 5th Australian Anti Aircraft Battery. On 20 Feb 1`942 he was transferred to the 29th Australian Anti Aircraft Battery where on 24 Mar 1942 he was appointed a Lance Bombardier. On 5 May he qualified as a Trade Group III Gun Layer.
On 14 July 1941 Roy was granted 6 days sick leave with Coryza or Rhinitis.
NT 4 Feb 1943
On 16 July 1945 Roy was arrested in Greta and charged with beiung AWOL while a member of the 32nd Australian Infnatry Training Battalion Discharged 23 Oct 1945
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1958 c/- AB Cann, Bedfordale, orchardist; 1963 at 75 Aurelian street, Palmyra, driver; 1977 at 18a Valmae road, Riverton, driver; 1980 at 37 Halse crescent, Melville, retired. In early 1990 Roy made application for a War Service Loan for housing.
