Early Life
Ernest Thomas Thatcher was born in 1872 in Bedminster, Somerset, England.
Early years in Australia
Ernest initially spent time in NSW from the age of 21. This was his first stint in Australia, beginning in 1892. He and Tommy Talbot drove sheep from Mundrabilla Station to Perth. He was droving for some time. It is known that he returned to England where he married Jessie (in 1913), then the couple came to Australia, beginning Ernest's second stint here.
Marriage and return to Australia
Ernest married Jessie Janet Thatcher (nee Pryor). They were married at Emmanuel Church, Maida Hill, Westminster, England on 2 February 1913. The couple came to Western Australia on board the steam ship "Orama", leaving England on 14 February 1913 and arriving on 18 March 1913.
Children
The couple had 6 children; Frederick Mark Thatcher, Ann Janet Thatcher (twins), Alice P Thatcher, Thomas Pryor Thatcher, James Pryor Thatcher and Corisande P. Thatcher.
Electoral Rolls
According to the electoral roll in 1925 and 1953 he lived at "The Old Homestead" Byford (also known as Wattles Creek Farm Byford), and in 1950 and 1954 he lived at Fourth Road Armadale. Ernest's listed occupation on electoral rolls was a Dairyman.
Death
Ernest died at the age of 83 on 15 August 1955.

Ernest is the grandfather of footballer Bryan Cousins and the great-grandfather of footballer Ben Cousins.
