Jack had a previous marriage to Catherine E.Smith before meeting and marrying [[Alice Mangini]] her while on a trip across the Nullabor and married her in 1918 at Boulder W.A. He was in his 70s, when her met Alice she was in her 50s at the time they were married which lasted at least 25 years. Jack had twin girls with Catherine E. Smith,  Catherine Ruth and Elizabeth born in 1933.  Elizabeth was stillborn and Catherine died at the age of `13.
