WW1 Service

During WW1 Edward served as a Pte (50540) who enlisted on 6 May 1918 as an 18 year old. After early training in Australia and further training in Egypt he was allocated to the Australian Army Medical Corps Details, returning to Australian on 19 Jan 1919.

In 1928 Edward married Rubeana F (Ruby) Cull. Electoral Roll entries: 1935 - 1936 at Bunbury road, Armadale, labourer

WW2 Service

On 2 Dec 1940 Edward was mobilised into the CMF at Fremantle and was posted to the 55th Anti-Aircraft Company RAE. On 26 Sep 1941 he was assessed as Trade Group II Driver Mechanic, and on 28 Feb 1942 he volunteered to join the 2nd AIF with a new Army Number - WX30530. From 30 Nov 1942 until 25 Aug 1942 he was detached to a Labour Company, and from 30 Nov 1942 until 4 Feb 1943 to the Harvey Garrison. On 10 May 1943 he was detached to the 66th Australian Anti Aircraft Searchlight Battery, remaining with them until 30 Mar 1944.
