War Service
Roy enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 14 Sep 1943 and was sent to the 35th Australian Infantry Training Battalion at Guildford. On 7 Feb 1944 he was charged with being AWOL from 10:15pm on 6 Feb 1944 until 6:40am on 7 Feb 1944. He forfeited a days pay and was awarded 3 days Confined to Barracks. On 2 Jun 1944 he was transferred to the 23rd Australian Infantry Training Battalion, and then on 28 Jul 1944 to the Australian Reinforcement Training Battalion (Jungle Warfare). On 21 Aug 1944 Roy was evacuated to the 22nd Australian Camp Hospital before returning to his unit on 27 Aug 1944.
