Enlisted as an Aircraftman on 9 Jun 1941 and was mustered as a Trainee Group V. On 9 Jun 41 Ted was sent to No. 4 Recruit Depot Pearce where he underwent a Recruit Drill Course (No P109) between 9 June and 10 July. On completion of the course Ted was sent to the [[No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF]] in Adelaide, commencing there on 23 Jul 1941 where he participated in the Trainee Technical Fitters Course No. 100 from 28 July until 17 October 1941. His next posting was on 19 Oct 1941 to [[No. 1 Engineering School RAAF]] at Ascot Vale where he undertook the Trainee Flight Mechanics Course No. 120 from 2 Nov 1941 until 23 Jan 1942. The next day he remustered as a Flight Mechanic. On 8 Feb 1942 Ted was back in Western Australia, posted to [[No. 4 Service Flying Training School RAAF]] at Pearce airbase. Less than a month later, on 2 Mar 1942 he was posted to [[No. 9 Elementary Flying Training School RAAF]] at Cunderdin.

On 4 Jun 1932 Edward married Bertha Jane Morley in St Mary's Church, Kelmscott. Their daughter Winifred May was born 11 Jun 1933, and a son, Barrie Edward on 12 May 1935.

War Service

Enlisted as an Aircraftman on 9 Jun 1941 and was mustered as a Trainee Group V.
