Joseph had completed Junior Technical School equivalent to eigth standard.
War Service
Joseph enlisted in the RAAF at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre on 22 Dec 1944, mustered as a Cook's Assistant TG V. On 29 Dec 1944 he was transferred to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF to undertake No. 294 Recruits Drill Course. On 3 Feb 1944 he was posted to RAAF Base Pearce and he remained with them until he was transferred on 16 Jun 1945 to No. 1 School of Technical Training RAAF in Melbourne to complete the No. 287 Trainee Cooks Course which ran between 1 Jul and 22 Sep 1945.
