War Service
Forrest enlisted on 11 Jun 1941 and two days later was posted tot he Naval Base Recruit Training Depot. A week later he transferred again, this time to the 3rd Training battalion, and on 1 July this chanfged when he joined the 2nd Training Battalion as a member of the 6th Division Cavalry reinforcements. From 29 July to 12 August he attended a training course at the M.T. School, before enjoying pre-embarkation leave from 26 Aug - 1 Sep 1041.
Forrest embarked on SS Marnix van St Alegonde which was part of Convoy 12B on 26 Sep 1941, and following a 2 day layover in Colombo, disembarked at Port Tewfik on 20 Oct 1941.
