Edward was sent to the Port Said Rest Camp from Abbassia to have a spell from 10 Aug to 20 Aug 1917, but after several days back on duty he reported sick to the [[4th Light Horse Brigade Field Ambulance]] who treated him for debility from 25 Aug 1917 until he returned to duty on 13 Sep 1917. On returning to duty he was made temporary Shoe Smith Corporal for a fortnight, and again from 3 Dec 1917 until 7 Jan 1918. Pre War
Prior to enlistment he was working on Millstream Station near Roebourne.
War Service
On entry into camp he was allocated to the 10th Light Horse Regiment, and on 28 Nov 1914 he was appointed Shoeing Smith. Edward travelled with the 10th Light Horse to Egypt where he was sent to Serapeum on arrival. Given his role with the horses and that some members of the Regiment remained in Egypt to care for the unit's horses, it is unlikely that Edward went to Gallipoli. Post War
On 13 Nov 1920 Edward married Irene Augusta Fiveash at St Mark's Church West Guildford. Four children. Irene died on 14 May 1959 aged 74.
Electoral Roll entries: 1922 - 1925 back as a station hand at Millsteam Station; In 1925 at Culham via Toodyay a farmhand; In 1931 he was an overseer on Mallina Station at Whim Creek; 1934 - 1936 a station overseer at 31 Iolanthe street Bassendean; 1937 at the Railway Hotel Yalgoo, repairer; 1949 - 1958 at Coolup, farmer (brother's property?).
