Brief History
In January 1942 the 5th Military District Base Postal Unit was raised, and soon after was renamed Western Command Base Postal Unit. Often confused with the Western Command Forward Postal Unit, in a re-organisation in April 1942 the unit was absorbed into the Western Australian Line of Command Postal Unit.
