Brief History

Originally established as the Western Command Training Depot AAOC at Bushmead in mid 1941, it was renamed in May 1942 to Western Command Lines of Communication Area Training Depot AAOC (W Comd L of C Trng Depot AAOC). The unit was relacated to Northam in mid 1942 to join the other training depots under the HQ WA L of C Training Depots. In February 1943 the 'Workshop Wing' moved to Guildford where it formed the 2nd AEME Training Centre.

Although AAOC training was centralised at Hume , in Victoria in March 1943 the Northam uni was retained due to the distance , and it became 2nd AAOC Training Depot, remaining in the Western Training Centre. In May its named changed to 2nd AAOC Training Depot. The lack of new recruits , and with very few AAOC units in Western Australia, the centre closed in September 1943, with all AAOC future training taking place at Hume.
