Remarks

Laid down as the Minnekahda for the Atlantic Transport Line, she was renamed Manchuria and completed for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company. She was acquired by the US Navy on 10 Apr 1918, and commissioned as the USS Manchuria on 25 Apr 1918. Her war duty over, she was de commissioned on 11 Sep 1919 and returned to her owners before being sold to the Panama Line.


On 1 Nov 1928 she was renamed President Johnson before being sold a week later to the Dollar Steamship Lines. On 26 Oct 1938 she was acquired by the Maritime Commission, and transferred to the American Presidents Line, before being taken over by the US Army on 29 Nov 1941 and commissioned as USAT President Johnston. She was armed with two 4" mounts, two 1 pounders, and two machine guns.


Post ww2 she was returned to the Maritime Commission on 26 Apr 1946 and sold to the Tagua Navigational Co. Panama and renamed Tagus. Sold again in 1947, this time to the Tronsmar Navigation Co of Portugal and renamed Santa Cruz. On 12 Jan 1962 she was scrapped at Savona in Italy.
