Brief History
The 10th AIF Training Depot was formed at Bendigo in June 1940 to train AIF men for medical units. It weas renamed3rd Training Depot AAMC in July 1940, and by March 1941 hey had been renamed again, this time to Southern Command AAMC Training Depot, located at Balcombe. In April they moved to Puckapunyal, and in July 1941 to Wangararatta. In April 1942 they were at Darley, renamed in May to Victorian Line of Communication Area AAMC Training Depot.
In November 1942 the AAMC training structure was standardised and the unit became known as 3rd AAMC Training Battalion. An AAMC training unit remaned in Western Australia until March 1943. This unit moved to Darley in May 1943 and was absorbed into the 3rd AAMC Training Battalion.
