Brief History
No. 3 Reserve Personnel Pool RAAF was formed on Noemfoor Island on 13 Dec 1944. The first few months were spent building a camp and obtaining equipment and supplies. The unit moved to Morotai on I Feb 1945 and became fully self contained at the end of March 1945. Due to the expansion of the unit by June 1945, it was necessary to construct a new camp site about 1 mile from the present location. During September all tents and buildings were removed from the old site to the new site.
By November 1945 most transient personnel had been posted away from the unit, leaving only clerical staff. The camp site was abandoned and the clerical staff moved to 11 Group camp site to prepare for disbandment. The lost entry in the No. 3 Reserve Personnel Pool Unit History Record was made in December 1945.
