Pre War
War Service
Harold enlisted in Perth on 6 Mar 1941 on a part time basis with the 16th Australian Infantry Battalion (Cameron Highlanders Regiment) entering training camp at Melville from 17 Jul - 14 Oct 1941. Harold transferred to full time duty when called up on 16 Dec 1941. On 21 Feb 1943 the unit and Harold entrained for South Australia enroute to the Northern Territory spending a little over two weeks in South Australia (25 Feb - 14 Mar 1943).
On 20 Dec 1943 Harold was travelling in reverse, first to South Australia, and then entraining in Adelaide for Western Australia on 2 Jan 1944. On 5 Jan 1944 Harold was with the Returnees Depot of the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot to be discharged on the grounds that he was needed to provide essential services. He was discharged the following day (6 Jan 1944).
