Brief History
This unit was formed in April 1942 in Perth to provide administrative and logistics functions in the Perth metro area. With their parter unit 13th Lines of Communication Sub Area moving to Broome in August 1942, they took over responsibility for the southwest as well. With the reduction of troop numbers in WA, by June 1943 they became responsible for the entire state and the HQs was renamed Administrative Headquarters 5th Australian Garrison Brigade, responsible for the Garrison Battalions on Rottnest, Fremantle and in the northwest. The unit was disbanded in September 1943.
