Australian Staging Camp - Kalgoorlie
From Our Contribution

Brief History
There was a change of railway gauges at Kalgoorlie from the WA domestic gauge to the Standard Gauge trans line that ran from Kalgoorlie to Port Pirie in South Australia. This line was subject to not infrequent interruptions, and thus a staging camp was established at Parkestone in July 1942 to hold and feed troops between trains from Perth. It continued to provide this role until the end of the war.
