Brief History
The School of Signals moved to Bonegilla in March 1942 and following the decision to centralise training, Bonegilla became the site. Central Signals Training Centre was formed in August 1942. 1st Signals Training Battalion took over training for NCOs, Officers and specialists while 1st Signals Recruit Training Battalion took over all training of new inductees. Other units in the group were 'NCO Training School and Signals Trade Training Battalion.
By late 1943 all recruits were trained under a common regime before being allocated to their unit. In January 1944 1st Signals Recruit Training Battalion was disbanded. Australian Central Signals Training Centre was involved in raising a plethora of new signals units during the war and it continue training until beyond he end of hte war.
