Brief History
In the June 1944 reorganisation of the 3rd BIPOD to create independent platoons, the 3rd Platoon, then at Milne Bay, in New Guinea became the 69th Australian Bulk Issue Petrol & Oil Depot Platoon. In August 1944 it returned to Australia to join the 5th BIPOD. A change of plans saw it return to New Guinea in February 1945, establishing itself at Aitape. After the capture of Wewak, the 69th BIPOD Platoon moved there in July 1945, remaining there until the end of the war.
