Brief History
The re-organisation of the 126th Australian General Transport Company in March 1945 while in Aitape, New Guinea, gave birth to the 58th Transport Platoon as well as the 57th Transport Platoon, and the 126th Workshop Platoon. In June 1945 a detachment \from the 58th Transport Platoon moved withthe 57th Transport Platoon to Moem. In July the detachment was joined by the Company HQ and tghe Workshop Platoon. They remained there until the cessation of hostilities.
