Brief History
It is thought that Southern Command (3 Military District) Motor Transport Training Depot was formed in December 1941 to take over driver training, and that this became Second Aust Army Motor Transport Training Depot in May 1942, and that it moved to Rosanna in September. They were re-organised as Victorian Line of Communication Area Transport Training Depot at Balcombe in October with 16 Officers and 68 ORs. They moved to Darley in January 1943, and then to Bonegilla in April where they were renamed 3rd Australian Motor Transport Training Depot. They continued to operate from Bonegilla until the end of the war.
