Brief History
The 245th Australian LAD was mobilised at Armadale NSW in December 1941 and moved with the 2nd Cavalry brigade to Dungong in February 1942. In May 1942 they were reallocated to the 2nd Field Park Squadron and relocated to Wauchope in June. A reorganisation of Armoured units in October saw the 245th Australian LAD joining the 2/4th Armoured Regiment with a move to Coffs Harbour to follow, before they joined their Regiment in Manumbar in Queensland during December.
By late 1943 the 2/4th Armoured Brigade Group was being prepared for service in New Guinea, and in October 1943 the 245th Australian Light Aid Detachemnt had been absorbed into the 2/4th Australian Armoured Regiment Workshop.
