Brief History
This unit was one that resulted from the breakup of the 2/3rd Company AASC in June 1944 to form the 2/3rd General Transport Company. Between October and November 1944 most of the Transport Platoons moved to Aitape in New Guinea, with the 2/5th Transport Platoon arriving in January 1945. They moved withthe forward Brigade that was advancing down the coast towards Wewak, moving to Swain in February and Matapau in March 1945. In April the platoon moved to Vokau. In July, following the capture of Wewak, the 2/5th Transport Platoon rejoined their parent unit at Cape Worm, working from there until the end of the war.
