Brief History
In May 1943 the AASC units in New Guinea were re-organised with the 2/3rd Base Supply Depot at Milne Bay forming 2/6th Supply Depot Company with 2/189th Supply Depot Platoon at Milne Bay, the 2/187th Supply Depot Platoon at Port Moresby and the 2/188th Supply Depot Platoon at Bulldog to service the units then building the Wau/Bulldog road. In December they moved to Port Moresby, and in January 1944 they left for Strathpine in Queensland before rejoining the 2/5th Supply Depot Company at Wondecla to service the 6th Infantry Division. In December 1944 they moved to Aitape in New Guinea and then moved to Tadji where they worked with 6th Division HQ units. In April 1945 they moved forward to But, and after Wewak was captured they moved to Cape Wom in May. As the fight moved into the mountains behind Wewak the 2/188th Supply Depot Platoon moved to Shiburangu in August 1945.
One member of the unit was killed on 17 Feb 1945 in New Guinea during air operations.
