Brief History
the 2/106th General Transport Company was re-organised at Chermside in July 1944 to form a Company HQ, 2/30 Transport Platoon, 2/31 Transport Platoon, 2/32 Transport Platoon and the 2/106th Workshop Platoon. They moved to Warwick in September and to Bribie Island in October where the transport platoons operated DUKWs. Other transport platoons operating DUKWs also concentrated at Bribie for training. In April 1945 the workshops, along with the transport platoons moved to the staging area on Morotai before supporting the landings at Labuan and Brunei. Detachments also worked into Sarawak, reaching Kuala Belait, and Mempakul in North Borneo. The workshop continued to work with the 2/20th Transport Platoon in Labuan, around Brunei Bay and in Sarawak
