Brief History
In May 1943 the AASC supply units in New Guinea were re-organised with 182nd Australian Supply Depot Platoon a part of the 2/24th Supply Depot Company at Port Moresby. In January 1944 the 15th Infantry Brigade Group began the advance up the Ramu Valley towards Madang and the 182nd Supply Platoon joined them, moving to Dumpu. As the advance neared the coast the supply platoon moved to Lae in April and to Madang in May before they returned to Australia in July 1944 for a rest. Based at Tenterfield in New South Wales they joined the 28th Supply Company before moving in September to Warwick in Queensland to join the 2/26th Supply Depot Company. Their next move was in October to Strathpine to await a role as part of the 1st Base Sub Area with the 1st Australian Corp north of New Guinea. Along with the 185th Supply Depot Platoon, the 182nd moved in April and May to the staging area on Morotai for the attack on Borneo where they remained until September when they accompanied the 33rd Australian Infantry Brigade Group as they accepted the Japanese surrender at Ambon.
