Brief History
In December 1942 the 125th Forward Ordnance Depot was formed at Charters Towers, and then moved to Ravenshoe on the Atherton Tablelands where units returning from New Guinea were resting and retraining. In February 1943 it received a large draft of men and the unit was re-organised as the 13th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot. The unit then moved to Tolga in March where the 17th Ordnance Stores Company was created, with a combined strength of 332 all ranks to provide personnel for the Depot. In August 1944 ordnance depots were re-organised with the Stores Companies being disbanded with the men absorbed into the depots to which they were attached.
