Brief History
When the 2nd Infantry Training Brigade left Bathurst area, the 3rd Australian Infantry Training Brigade was formed at Bathurst. Its role was to oversight the 2nd Infantry Special Group, the Machine Gun Training Company and the newly raised 33rd Infantry Training Battalion as well as the established 1st & 14th Infantry Training Battalions. During the following month the 34th Infantry Training Battalion was formed at Bathurst, and the 19th Infantry Training Battalion joined them. The unit was renamed HQ 16th Infantry Training Brigade in May.
At the end of the war they were preparing troops for their roles in the proposed Occupation Force in Japan.
