Brief History

The unit came into effect in January 1942 as the 107th Reserve Motor Transport Company. However, all of the personnel were detached to other units and it wasn't until March 1942 that they received theri vehicles and moved to Mt martha for training. There they were reorganised aas the 134th Australian General Transport Company in July 1942 with three platoons. In AUgust they moved to Eerald Hill in new South Wales before moving again, this time to Mt Isa where they worked the eastern convoy route.

In January 1944 they moved to Katherine with detachments at Pine Creek, Brocks Creek and Larrimah, and later detachemnts at Mararanka, and Truscot. As traffic droped off withthe war moving further from Australia, other transport companies were disbanded, such that by February 1945 134th Australian General Transport Company had detachments at Darwin Noonamah, Adelaide River, Mt Isa and Alice Springs. The unit left the Northern Territory in June 1945 and finished the war at Herne Bay in New South Wales where they disbanded.

Three men died while posted to this unit, two from illness and one from injuries.
