Brief History
This unit began as the 3rd Australian Corps Artillery Training Depot established at Notham in June 1942. Prior artillery training in Western Australia was handled by different units for militia and regular troops. In September the unit downsized and was relabelled as 12th Australian Artillery Training Battery, with the training of men for the Heavy Artillery units transferrd to Fremantle Fortress.
Artillery training was centralised at Greta in New South Wales in April 1943, but as a result of the distance, training continued in Western Australia. However, with the decrease in troops in Western Australia, the unit relocated to Greta in September 1943, and in November it was absorbed into 'the 'Artillery Training Centre.
