Wanda enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service on 19 May 1944 at Claremont and on 22 May was sent to the 6th AWS Training Company for basic training before being posted to 5th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot Provision Section on 19 Jun 1944. From 14 - 21 Jul 1944 Wanda received treatment from the 75th Australian Camp Hospital before transferring on 19 Aug 1944 to the 7th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot.
