Pre War
Had served during WW 1 in France with the British Engineers. Electoral Roll entries: 1925 - 1943 at Eighth road, Armadale, labourer;
War Service
Enlisted on a part time basis on 30 Nov 1940 with 'Y' Reserve Company of the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion where on 24 Dec 1940 he was promoted Acting Corporal. On 27 Feb 1941 his rank was confirmed after he completed a two week course for NCOs. On 15 Dec 1941 Arthur was called up for full time service and taken on strength by the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion.
On 30 Jan 1942 Arthur was evacuated to 110th Australian Base Hospital who released him to the 109th Australian Convalescent Depot on 16 Feb 1942. Discharged from the convalescent depot on 3 mar 1942 he returned to his unit where he was granted Special leave from 31 March to 30 April. On 26 May 1942 Arthur ceased full time service and was transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot where he was discharged on 26 May 1942

Mabel died on 15 Dec 1965 in Armadale, aged 78.
