Pre War
Frederick was known to his friends and family as 'Ted'. He had two sisters: Dorothy May Clark (nee Price) and Anne Amelia Valley (nee Price) who was married to Bill Valley, a local school bus driver.
War Service
'Ted' enlisted in the CMF on a full time basis on 1 Jul 1941 at Claremont, and was allocated to the 5th Australian Anti Aircraft Battery. On 13 Sep 1941 he was charged with having been AWOL from 1:30am until 7:10am that day and was fined 10/- ( $1). On 20 Feb 1941 he was evacuated to the Fremantle Clinic who in turn sent him on 21 Feb 1942 to the 110th Australian Base Hospital. At the same time his unit was split into two to form the 29th Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, and he joined them ex-hospital on 27 Feb 1942. He was again in need of the services of 110th Australian Base Hospital on 17 Mar 1942, returning to his unit on 24 Mar 1942.
Ted was charged on 11 May 1942 with 'Bad Conduct' resulting in a fine of £1. On 18 Jul 1942 Ted enlisted in the 2nd AIF, and soon after, on 22 Aug 1942 he was transferred to 420 Gun Site. His next move was on 22 Jan 1943 when he entrained for the Northern Territory, detraining there on 4 Feb 1943. At some point between 22 Aug 1942 and 22 Jan 1943 he had transferred back to the 5th AA Battery as it was with them that he moved to the Northern territory. He then spent a fortnight detached to the 2nd Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, and on 1 Jul 1943 he was granted proficiency pay.
On 3 Jan 1944 in the renamed 135th Anti-Aircraft Battery he was deemed Proficient as a TG II Instrument Operator, but it was withdrawn from him on 30 Jun 1944. On 30 Nov 1944 his unit moved to New South Wales, however on 14 Dec 1944 Ted was charged in South Australia with having been AWOL from 10:45am on 10 December until 11:00 on the 13th. He was fined £3 and automatically forfeited 4 day's pay. The next entry in Ted's Army documents have him briefly joining the 1st Australian Pack Transport Company after its arrival back in Australia at French's Forest in New South Wales. There he was charged on 27 Mar 1945 with having been AWOL from 10:00am on 24 Mar 1945 until 5:00pm on the same day. He was fined £3 and forfeited a day's pay. He was then transferred on 10 May 1945 to the 2nd Australian Field Artillery Training Regiment. On 14 May 1945 Ted was charged with having been AWOL from 7:00am on 7 May 1945 until 4:00pm the same day. This time he was fined £1 with the automatic forfeiture of a day's pay.
Ted was sent to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot on 24 Sep 1945, and they then posted him to the 26th Australian Works Company on 14 Oct 1945. On 15 Nov 1945 Ted was charged with having been AWOL fom midnight 11 Nov 1945 until 7:30am on 15 Nov 1945. Ted was fined £3 and forfeited four day's pay.Ted was immediately detached the same day to the 10th Australian Base Store, remaining with them until he rejoined Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot on 26 Mar 1946 to prepare for his discharge which occurred two days later on the 28th.
Post War

Frederick married Beryl V Brownley (?) during 1949 and they had one child, named Lindsey.
