Electoral Roll entry: 1943 at Ninth road, Armadale, farmer.

War Service

Called up on 6 Mar 1941, he presented to the Drill Hall on Mounts Bay road in Perth, but as a farmer he was exempt from service. On 26 Apr 1942 John enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Armadale and was allocated to the 3rd (Swan) VDC Battalion's 'H.V.' Company. On 28 Feb 1943 he was transferred to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion, and was discharged on 15 Nov 1943.


On 2 Jan 1943 John married Annie Amelia Price (1920 - 1998) locally. Annie died on 5 Jul 1997 in Armadale.
