Mourners Dig Grave

When the cortege of the late Mr. G. A. Gibbs, of Smailes Mill, Karragullen, arrived at the Guildford cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday the 200 persons attending the funeral were amazed to find that no grave had been prepared. Some of Mr. Gibbs's relatives and friends had to take turns to dig the grave, and later covered the coffin after the burial service.

The undertaker said that he had given instructions for the grave to be prepared and did not know why the Guildford Cemetery Board had not had the job done.[1],
