Pre War

During 1932 Ken married Elizabeth Gladys (Bessie) Hibble.

War Service

Prior to being mobilised on 15 Nov 1940, Kenneth had been a member of the Reserve Remount Troupe. He was allocated to the 9th Auxiliary Horse Transport Company. On 22 Nov 1940 he was appointed as a Lance Corporal, and eight days later on 30 Nov 1940 he was promoted Corporal before attending an Instructional Course in Geelong, Victoria. He returned to Western Australia on 7 Mar 1941 and on 19 Mar 1941 he was posted to the 10th Australian Garrison Battalion on Rottnest. On 19 May 1941 Kenneth was admitted to the Rottnest Camp Hospital with a strained knee joint, returning to duty on 24 May 1941.


On 26 May 1941 Kenneth was promoted Sergeant, and on 14 Jul 1941 he returns to the mainland, and after a short period of leave is detached to Northam Camp until 11 Aug 1941. On 2 Jan 1943 Kenneth accepts a transfer to the 2nd AIF with a new regimental number of WX36218. On 4 Mar 1943 he was discharged in order to become an Acting Lieutenant the following day, assigned to the 9th Auxiliary Horse Transport Company. He was sent to the AASC Training School on 2 Apr 1943. On 23 Jun 1943 Kenneth was admitted to 65th Australian Camp Hospital with a mild sprain to an ankle. The same day they pass him on to the 110th Australian Base Hospital, and he returns to duty on 27 Jun 1943. On 18 Oct 1943 Kenneth is transferred to the 12th Australian Employment Company, before returning to the 9th Auxiliary Horse Transport Company on 1 May 1944, remaining with them until 16 Jan 1945 when he is transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge on the 28 Jan 1945.

Post War

Kenneth's discharge address was Wiliam street, East Cannington. Electoral Roll entries: 1954 at 48 Victoria street, Belmont, farmer (Bessie a hairdresser); 1963 at "Karribanks", Porongorups, guest house proprietor; 1968 - 1977 at 8 Mira Mar road, Albany, business manager.
