Pre War
War Service
On 21 Jan 1942 John enlisted part time in the 19th Australian Garrison Battalion at Claremont and on 26 Feb 1942 he was called up for full time service. His trade Grouping was deemed to be TG II (Intelligence duties). On 10 Nov 1943 John was promoted to Acting Corporal, losing the Trade Group pay, and was soon after sent on a course at the 3rd Corps Training Centre at Harvey. On 31 Mar 1944 his rank of Corporal was confirmed.
John was transferred to the 10th Australian Garrison Battalion on 4 Nov 1944, and needed hospital attention from 9-12 Dec 1944 from the 75th Australian Camp Hospital. On 24 Jan 1945 John was transferred to the Marrinup Prisoner of War Camp (Camp No 16), remaining with them until 16 Apr 1946 when he moved to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot to prepare for his discharge on 23 Apr 1946.
Post War
During 1957 John married Vera Luketina in Perth.
