Pre War
On 7 Jul 1930 Edward married Elsie Rose Granville in the Irwin district. Elsie died 23 Oct 2005, aged 94.

War Service
On 16 Jul 1942 Raymond was mobilised (As a teacher he was exempt), having already enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Mundijong on 26 Apr 1942, and having been allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 1 Jul 1942 he was transferred to the 12th (Jarrah) VDC Battalion until 14 Aug 1942 when he appears to have transferred back to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 8 Feb 1944 at his own request Edward was discharged.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 at Metricup, teacher; 1954 at Shark Bay, teacher; 1958 at School House, Darkan, teacher; 1963 Scholl House, Forrest Grove, teacher; 1972 - 1980 at 12 Craig street, Busselton, retired.
