Pre War

Alfred, then a 20 year old butcher, emigrated to Australia aboard the SS Ormuz which departed London on 27 Nov 1926 married Nancy May Westlake (1908 - 1986). Nancy died in Rockingham on 7 Feb 1986, aged 78.

War Service

Enlisted at Maddington on 29 Mar 1942 and posted to 'D' Company 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 1 Aug 1942 he was appointed Lance Corporal, and then on 4 Dec 1942 he was promoted Corporal. From 17 Sep until 10 Oct 1943 he attended NCO training at 3rd ACS at Harvey, which he passed. On 1 May 1945 he was placed on the Reserve and his formal date of being removed from the Army was 15 Oct 1945.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1963 at 'Glencoe', Eighth road, Armadale, farmer; 1968 - 1980 at 13 George street, Rockingham, retired.
