War Service

Sam's initial contact with the Army was his mobilisation call up on 1 Aug 1941, but as he was in a protected manpower occupation he was not taken at that time. On 28 Jul 1942 he was enlisted into the Volunteer Defence Corps and allocated to the 12th (Jarrah) VDC Battalion. Along with many others his Army number was reallocated on 7 Feb 1944 from W85045 to W10779 and on 31 Jul 1944 he was placed in the Reserve.

Post War

During 1948 Sam married Alice Duff locally.
