Pre War

During 1923 Herbert married Beryl Mildred Lakeman (1903 - 1978). Beryl died on 16 Aug 1978 in South Perth.

War Service

On 4 May 1942 Herbert enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps, and was allotted to the 12th (Jarrah) VDC Battalion. On 31 Jul 1944 the unit and all personnel were transferred to the reserve.


Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1954 at Railway Mill, Dwellingup, mill hand; 1958 at Banksiadale, engine driver; 1963 - 1977 at 66 Banksia terrace, factory worker; 1980 at 14/163 Scarborough Beach road, Scarborough, retired.

Notes

Herb's son Arthur Herbert also served in the Jarrah VDC Battalion (W84411), joining immediately before his father.
