Pre War

War Service
On 6 Mar 1941 Gordon enlisted in the CMF's 16th Australian Infantry Battalion (Cameron Highlanders Regiment) at the Drill Hall, Mounts Bay road, Perth, but it wasn't until 17 Jul 1941 that he entered training at Melville Camp. On 14 Oct 1941, his initial training was completed, and on 16 Dec 1941 he was called up for full time duty following Japan's entry into the war. In early 1942 |Gordon was granted LWOP to attends to Essential Service work before attending further training at Chidlows in April and May 1942. He was gain granted LWOP for most of the month of August, and along with the rest of his unit he entrained for Adelaide on 21 Feb 1943. Following a fortnight in Adelaide, they then travelled to the Northern Territory, arriving on 19 Mar 1943.
On 186 Aug 1943 he was granted LWOP for essential service work, returning to his unit on 31 Aug 1942. After another 16 months in the Northern Territory, Gordon was discharged on 24 Jan 1944 to work on the North Australian Railway connecting Darwin to Birdum, midway between Darwin and Tennant Creek.
Post War
