Pre War

War Service

On 10 May 1942 Joyce enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service at the AWAS Barracks in Claremont where she was classified as a Canteen Attendant Trade Group IV, and on 30 May 1942 she was detached to Canteen Services, with the transfer formalised on 30 May 1942.


Joyce was posted to a number of Clubs run by the Australian Defence Canteen Service: 10 ADCS Club in Melbourne; 15 ACDS Club at 39 Mile in the Northern Territory; 18 ADCS Club at Atherton in Queensland; and 28th AACS Officers Club at Ravenshoe in Queensland. On 18 Jul 1944 Joyce was posted back to 31st AWAS Barrack for discharge by the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot which occurred on 22 Jul 1944. On 1 Apr 1944 her NOK was changed to her husband NX8953 Sergeant Albert Sinclair of the 1st Australian General Hospital.

Post War

Discharge Certificate was mailed to 39 Marloo street, Wembley.
