War Service

Betty enlisted on 16 Feb 1942 at the WACA Grounds in Perth and classified as a TG IV Ward Orderly. On 10 Mar 1942 she was detached to the 110th Australian Base Hospital until 25 May 1942. On 19 Jun 1942 Betty was detached to the WA Line of Communication Records Office, as a Clerk. This unit was later renamed as WA Echelon & Records Betty was promoted Acting Corporal on 10 Aug 1942, and her rank was confirmed on 3 Oct 1942. From 6 December until 11 Jan 1944 she attended the No. 11 AWAS NCO Course at Guildford.


From 21 - 25 May 1945 Betty was treated by the 110th Australian Base Hospital for an infected finger, and on 29 Aug 1945 she was appointed as a Lance Sergeant. She was confirmed in her rank of Sergeant on 29 Aug 1945. On 2 Mar 1946 Betty returned to the 31st AWAS Barrack for discharge on 5 Mar 1946.

Notes

Most official records list her given names as Therese Violet Kuhio. She married Victor Charles Evans (1893 - 1982) in Perth during 1923. They had 2 children, one of whom was Patricia Maude Evans (1925 - 2000) .
