War Service

Enlisted in the CMF part time at Armadale on 21 Oct 1941, and was called up for full time service on 3 Jan 1942 with the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment ww2. Detached to the 10th Recruit Battalion on 9 Feb 1942 for a D & M Course which concluded on 6 Mar 1942. On 31 May 1942 Roy was posted to A Coy of the 10th Recce Battalion. Granted Leave without Pay from 25 May until 2 Jun 1942. Soon after his return he was detached to the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment on 17 Feb 1942 at Wanneroo before being transferred to the 16th Australian Infantry Battalion (Cameron Highlander's Regiment).


On 21 Feb 1943 along with his unit he was sent to the Northern Territory via Adelaide where they enjoyed a break of several weeks between the legs of their trip. Roy arrived in Darwin on 19 Mar 1943. However by New Year's Day 1944 he was back in South Australia and on 2 Jan 1944 he entrained for Western Australia, to be discharged on 6 Jan 1944 with no reason recorded in his records.

Post War

In 1951 Roy married Constance Lillian Pennell. In 1977 they shared house with Karen Elizabeth, Phillip Charles, Peter John, and Valerie May Davey.
