Pre War
War Service
On 226 Mar 1917 enlisted for the first time claiming to be 18 years old, and after three weeks at Blackboy Hill camp was allocated to the No 5 District Guard. However, on 3 Aug 1917 he was exposed as being under age, and was discharged.
Entered camp again on 29 Mar 1918 and 0n 10 Apr 1918 was allocate dot the 2nd Western Australian Reinforcements. On 10 May 1918, however, he was transferred out to the Camp Details Depot, where for a period (9 Aug - 10 Sep 1918) he was an Acting Lance Corporal. On 11 Sep 1918 he transferred to the 3rd General Reinforcement group from WA for 1918, completed his training with them and set sail for England, only to have the ship recalled mid Indian Ocean when the armistice was declared.
However, having left our shores, he was entitled to the British War Medal. Discharged by the 5th Military District 17 Jan 1919
Post War
In 1935 Henry married Hettie Hazel. Hettie died 24 Dec 1962 in Bentley ages 65.
