Pre War

Herbert married Ruby Alice Lockhart (1892 - 1972) on 22 Oct 1913 in Gosnells. Ruby died in Perth on 6 Oct 1972. They had three children: Juanita Daphne Martin (1914 - 1986); Ernest Gordon Martin (1917 - 2000); and Phillip Herbert Martin DFC & Bar (1923 - 2010).

War Service

On 22 Mar 1942 in Armadale, Bert enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 30 Jul 1944 Bert was discharged at his own request.

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 at Kelmscott, orchardist; 1954 - 1958 at 17 Pinjarra road, Mandurah, retired.
