Early Life

Edith May Marion Brunswick was born in 1883 in Islington, London.

Marriage

Edith married Joseph William Smith in Essex in 1904. The couple had four children: Joyce (b. 1906); Phyllis (b. 1908); Maria Aylmore (b.1908); and Roy Joseph (b.1916).

Residences

Electoral Roll entries list Edith and Joseph as living in Armadale in 1925, and more precisely at Sixth Road in Armadale at the time of Joseph's death in 1931. By 1949 Edith was living in a property on Albany Road in Armadale, and later moved to 80 Hampshire Road, Victoria Park.

Community Life

Mrs Smith was mentioned several times in local news columns in publications such as the South Western Advertiser, in connection to her membership of the Red Cross and of social occasions with her friends Mrs Cartwright, Mrs Bunney and Mrs Harden et al. In 1951, while Edith was living in South Perth, the Kelmscott branch of the Red Cross invited her back to the district to be the guest of honour at their annual meeting.

Death

Edith died aged 73 on 2 November 1956.
