Pre War

War Service

Joseph was mobilised for full time duty on 20 May 1941 in Perth and on 2 Jun 1941 was classified as a Trade Group II Cook. The same day he was detached to the 25th Machine Gun Regiment until 26 Jun 1941. On 14 Mar 1942 he was transferred to HQ Fixed Defences Fremantle. His records are very difficult to read, but it appears that he worked as a cook for one or more of the units that constituted the Coastal Artillery or Garrison units based at Fremantle until 23 Jul 1945 when he was transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for reposting as the need to defend Fremantle was removed. Instead he was medically reclassified 'B2' on 7 Aug 1945 and discharged the following day.

Post War

During 1946 Joseph married Jean Olive MacDonald. She was not with Joseph in 1958.

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1954 Division street Welshpool, tram conductor; 1958 at 39 Monger street, North Perth, tram conductor; 1963 - 1980 at 270 Mill Point road, South Perth, bus conductor with Lorna Adelaide (nee Hayward) who he had married during 1962.
