Pre War

On 25 Nov 1924 Maurice had married Queenie (?) Bloom. City of Perth rate book for North Perth 1926 - 1931 lists them at 11 Elizabeth street, with Maurice a clerk. In 1936 Queenie has a shop on North Beach Road, with Maurice's name crossed out, the shop having been in his name the year prior. The 1936 Electoral Roll has him at 194 Hay street, Kalgoorlie, an auctioneer; and in 1937 at 374 Egan street, Kalgoorlie. They were divorced in 1937. On enlistment his mother is given as his NOK.

War Service

On 24 Nov 1942 Maurice was mobilised on a full time basis, and on 7 Dec 1942 he was sent to the Western Australian Line of Communications Area AASC School. On 22 Apr 1943 he was transferred to the 9th Australian Auxiliary Horse Transport Company where he was granted Proficiency Pay from 1 Jul 1943.


On 3 Apr 1944 he reported a trauma to his right big toe while on duty (caused by horse? as no investigation required). Then on 24 Aug 1944 he was medically reclassified 'B2' - constant pain and suitable for clerical duties. On 25 Sep 1944 he was transferred tot he Western Australian Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for reassignment. Rather than reassign him, he was discharged on 26 Sep 1944.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1943 - 1958 at Albany road, Armadale, not employed. Betty was listed as a shop keeper. 1968 Maurice only, yet Betty died 22 Aug 1961 in Armadale, Western Australia.
